Birthdays and Harvest Festival

We started talking about what to put in this week's blog and realised what a busy week we have had!
On Monday, our school was 50 years old and we had a fun day to celebrate. We read The Birthday Message by Eric Carle and then did some activities - we made crowns, went on a treasure hunt and drew birthday pictures.
Ethan says the best part was meeting everyone else in the hall for cake.

On Wednesday it was No Pens Day. We found quite tricky to not use pens or pencils all day- especially the children who like to colour! We did a fantastic science investigation though.
We had to find out what the best material was for the 3 Little Pigs roof - Daisy
We tested what was waterproof and what wasn't - Jessica
Foil was the best because it was waterproof and strong - Beatrice
Tissue paper was the worst because it cracked and water fell through- Harry

Today we celebrated Harvest Festival. We enjoyed the assembly and thought Nursery and Reception sang their song brilliantly. Reverend Will did a fun assembly and told us what Harvest was all about. We were proud of the songs we sang with Oak and Year 2.

We've also had a skipping workshop today. Some of us demonstrated to everyone else in assembly.
I learnt to skip forwards and backwards - Ben
I had to touch my feet and the ground - Arlie

What a lot we have packed in to the week!

The Star Award was given to Mollie who has been able to talk about her feelings. Well done, Mollie.

Chrisanthi is taking Snowy home because she has been working independently and shown perseverance with her writing. Well done, Chrisanthi - have a lovely weekend with Snowy.

We have brought home blank paper this weekend, to create a Christmas Card design on.

Our Home Learning is to see what numbers we can find around us - it doesn't have to be digits - it could groups of objects too.

Happy Weekend everyone.
