Authors and illustrators

Over the past few weeks, we have been reading Traditional Tales and doing lots of work about them. This week, we worked in our morning groups to rewrite a Traditional Tale. Mrs McLellan, Mrs Turner and Mrs Orchard were all really pleased with how well we worked together.
We also made pictures for our story.
They are called illustrations - Ross
We did our illustrations on the computer - James
I used the paintbrush - Mollie
I used the shapes - Lucas

We put together all of the skills we've been learning in Computing to create our pictures.  Mrs Orchard has put all of our work together to make books that we will be putting in the book corner.

Today, we wrote our own stories about the Big Bad Wolf. We were trying to write in sentences and use adjectives for description.
What did the Big Bad Wolf do in our stories?
He went to the pyramids -Lyla
He made a cake - Zaina
He looked for Goldilocks - Harry

In maths, we have been finding 1 more or 11 less than a number. We enjoyed using the counters on a tens frame to do this. We also played a fun game together.

We got our tenth marble this week - so had a treat of watching Numberblocks with our snack. Our new class challenge is to work quietly and independently in Guided Reading.

10 of us achieved our first challenge leaf and put them on the challenge tree in assembly.

Next week is cultural week, and we are learning about Africa. Our home learning is to find out some facts about Kenya and record them in our own way.

This week Arlie got the Star Award for settling in so well to our class. Well done, Arlie!

Our Learning Owl this week is Jessica. She is always ready to learn, works independently and tries her best with her work. Well done, Jessica. Have a great weekend with Snowy.
