In English this week, we have been reading and reciting a version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. It has lots of verses. We have been looking for words that rhyme. Then we learnt about adjectives.
An adjective is a word that describes - Beatrice
We thought of adjectives to describe a star:
pointy - Arlie
shiny - Mollie
golden - Tom
Some of us used a thesaurus to find different words.
Instead of big, we could use huge or massive.
We challenged ourselves to use some of these words in a sentence.
Shooting stars.... Harry
We read a story about How to Catch a Star, and wrote our own stories in Creative Writing.
She could put a chair on a ladder and jump off it - Connie
A tall person could stand on top of a tree - Thomas
A cannon - Grace
A Fire truck - Ethan
Aeroplane - William H
Oak Class did their sharing assembly today, it was amazing!
In Topic we were learning about Vincent Van Gogh and his painting Starry Night. We found out that when he painted, did not ever leave any white. We used our art skills to create tints and tones. We will be learning more about this picture next week.
We talked a lot about things that might worry us this week. Lots of us felt worried when our friends were unkind to us, so we helped each other to think of what we could do when this happens. Noreen is our Star of the Week for always smiling and being a good friend to others. Well done, Noreen!
Benedict has had an amazing week. He has tried so hard with his work and we were all really impressed with his 'How to Catch a Star' story. He really persevered with it. Mrs Byrne was so proud when he read it all to her, too. Well done Benedict- you're a great Learning Owl. Have a fab weekend with Snowy.
Our Home Learning this week is to add and subtract numbers, but the answer always has to be 10.
Don't forget the Christmas Bazaar Saturday 11-1:30. We have all made decorations to buy.
