Thank you for all the comments on our blog last week. We enjoyed reading them all during snack time.
A few weeks ago, Grace brought in a book about the great Fire of London. We were really interested in it, so that is what our learning has been about this week. We used films, books and pictures to help us find out about the past.
It was in 1666 - Ross
It started in a bakery- Charles
The houses were close to each other and the wind blew the flames to the next house - Arlie
Some people escaped in boats on the river - Harry
Samuel Pepys buried his dairies and some cheese in the garden. When the fire was over, he dug them up! Mollie
In our learning, we have written labels and caption, made Tudor houses and created fire dances. We also wrote a diary, pretending we had seen the fire. We used our senses to hep us write. The houses we made looked so good that we decided not to burn them!
We had a basketball workshop. We learnt how to dribble the ball using our hands to bounce it. Some of us had never played basketball before, we all tried really hard and kept persevering. This meant we could use our skills in a race by the end of the workshop.
In maths, we explored how many ways we could make five - by putting coloured cubes together in different patterns,
1 +1+1+1+1 = 5 Jessica
2 + 3 = 5 - Beatrice
2+2+1 Thomas Bennett
We've also been using the tens frames to take away.
This week Ross is taking Snowy home. He's been taking responsibility for his learning and in English really challenged himself with his writing. Well done, Ross. Have a great weekend with Snowy.
Daisy got the Star Award this week as she is such a good friend. She is kind to everyone and will look after children who are lonely. Well done, Daisy!
Most of us brought home our assembly words to practise over the weekend. The photocopier broke and didn't print the last few- sorry! The children will get these on Monday.
Our sharing assembly is on Friday 17th November at 9:10 - we can't wait to share our learning with you. It's also Children in Need that day, so we can wear spots and stripes to school.
